The heads get the attention. The water supply does the work.
When a head opens, the system needs enough water at enough pressure, and the public water supply needs protecting from what's been sitting in your pipes. Backflow preventers and fire pumps handle both jobs, and both need regular testing to be trusted.
Backflow preventers
Water in a sprinkler system sits still for years. A backflow prevention assembly stops that water, and anything added to it, from flowing back into the drinking water supply when pressure changes. Water purveyors require these assemblies on fire service lines and require them to be tested regularly. We install new assemblies, test existing ones and repair or rebuild them when they fail.
Fire pumps
Where the city main or a tank can't deliver the pressure a system needs, a fire pump boosts it. Fire pumps are tested on a schedule set by NFPA 25, including regular churn tests and an annual flow test that checks the pump still meets its rated performance. We run the tests, service the pump and controller, and report what we find.
Rural and older buildings
Across Montana, water supply is often the hardest part of fire protection. Rural sites may rely on tanks, and older buildings may have undersized services. We look at the supply first, so the system designed on paper actually performs.
What's included
- Backflow assembly installation on fire service lines
- Backflow testing and reports for your water purveyor
- Backflow repair and rebuilds
- Fire pump churn and annual flow testing
- Pump, driver and controller service
- Water supply review for new and existing systems
What it costs
Testing is priced per assembly or pump. Repairs and installations are quoted after we see the equipment. Bundle backflow and pump testing with your sprinkler inspection and save.
